This project incorporates the traditional built-to-edge buildings with internal spaces to establish the intimate city scale that produces a habitable and lively streetscape. Incorporating cherished building elements recovered and retained from the old bungalow that had to be taken down , with the beauty of crafts, the loving care of hands- terrazzo, woodwork, bamboo chicks – all incorporate the environmental and social sustainability principles of using low- embodied energy materials , recycling & reuse and adding value to the skills of craftsmanship. Building sections are designed with openings to receive winter sunshine from the upper level to enter the hart of the dwellings at the ground floor. In summers there is protection from the Sun.  The traditional courtyard space is now roofed over to act as an environmental engine; in summers this is the place for installing an evaporative cooling system, in winters this is where the sunlight is received. The other dimensions of design continuum the time less feel of natural materials – timber, bamboo, stones, natural pigmented sand, garden and creepers; the savoring of memories of childhood. The dominant portion of the roofed courtyards with their quilts of mirrors and colorful cloth, the PV Panels and the possibility of visible monsoon and night sky – stars & moon – would become a strong aesthetic experience of the idea of responding to the rhythm of seasonal cycles
